Prostate Health Test
The PROSTA-CHECK® Prostate Health Test is a simple home screening test designed to detect prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in a small finger-prick blood sample.
PSA is a protein produced by the prostate gland. Doctors often measure PSA levels to assess prostate health. Therefore, this prostate health test can help identify elevated PSA levels that may indicate changes in the prostate.
Higher PSA levels may sometimes appear with conditions such as prostate enlargement, inflammation, or prostate cancer. However, only a medical professional can confirm a diagnosis.
Why Monitoring Prostate Health Matters
The prostate is a small gland located below the bladder. It surrounds part of the urethra and helps produce components of semen.
As men age, prostate changes become more common. For this reason, many healthcare professionals recommend routine PSA screening.
Men over 50 years old, or men with a family history of prostate problems, may benefit from regular prostate health monitoring.
Early screening can help detect changes sooner. Consequently, early medical evaluation may improve treatment outcomes if a problem is found.
How the Prostate Health Test Works
The PROSTA-CHECK® Prostate Health Test uses an immunological method to detect PSA levels in whole blood.
The test requires a small blood sample obtained through a finger-prick lancet included in the kit.
To perform the test:
-
Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap.
-
Clean the fingertip using the alcohol pad provided.
-
Use the sterile lancet to obtain a small blood drop.
-
Collect the blood using the plastic pipette.
-
Add the blood sample to the test device.
-
Add the diluent drops as instructed.
Then allow the reaction to develop.
Read the result after 10 minutes.
Do not interpret the result after 15 minutes.
Understanding Your Results
Positive Result
If both the test line and control line appear, the test detected PSA in the blood sample. In this case, consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and medical advice.
Negative Result
If only the control line appears, the test did not detect PSA above the screening threshold.
Invalid Result
If the control line does not appear, the test did not work correctly. Therefore, repeat the test using a new device.
