Bowel Health Test
The POLY-CHECK® Bowel Health Test is a simple home screening test that helps detect hidden blood in stool.
Sometimes small amounts of blood appear in stool but remain invisible to the eye. For this reason, this bowel health test helps identify possible bleeding in the digestive tract.
The test detects blood levels higher than 10 ng/mL. As a result, it can help highlight early signs of digestive tract irritation or disease.
Because bleeding does not always happen every day, the test collects samples over three consecutive days. Therefore, this process increases the chances of detecting hidden blood.
Why Detecting Blood in Stool Matters
Blood in stool can occur for several reasons. In many cases, the cause may be minor. However, it may also indicate a more serious condition.
Common causes include:
• Haemorrhoids
• Digestive ulcers
• Inflammation in the colon
• Polyps in the bowel
• Colorectal cancer
Early detection helps doctors investigate problems sooner. Consequently, treatment may begin earlier if necessary.
When to Use the Bowel Health Test
You can perform the POLY-CHECK® Bowel Health Test whenever you have a bowel movement.
However, the instructions recommend collecting samples for three days in a row. This method improves accuracy because bleeding may happen intermittently.
Therefore, collecting multiple samples helps increase the reliability of the test.
How the Bowel Health Test Works
The test uses an immunological method to detect small traces of blood in stool.
First, collect a stool sample according to the instructions in the kit.
Next, prepare the sample using the extraction tube.
Then add the required number of drops to the test device.
Finally, wait for the reaction to develop.
You should read the result after 10 minutes but before 15 minutes.
If the control line appears, the test worked correctly.
Understanding Your Results
Positive Result
A positive result means the test detected blood in the stool sample. Therefore, you should consult a doctor and show them the test result. A healthcare professional will decide whether further investigation is needed.
Negative Result
A negative result means the test did not detect blood in the sample. However, screening remains important for people aged 45 years and older, or for those with a family history of colorectal cancer.
For this reason, many health professionals recommend regular screening.
Invalid Result
If the control line does not appear, the test did not work correctly. In this case, repeat the test with a new device and a fresh stool sample.
Test Accuracy
Healthcare professionals have used POLY-CHECK® for more than ten years.
Evaluation studies show an overall agreement of about 93% compared with reference testing methods. Nevertheless, like all screening tests, false positive or false negative results may occasionally occur.
Storage and Safety
Store the test between 4°C and 30°C.
Do not freeze the test device.
Do not reuse the test.
For in vitro diagnostic use only.
Keep out of reach of children.
