Menopause Test
The MENO-CHECK® Menopause Test is a simple home screening test designed to detect increased levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in urine.
FSH is a hormone that rises as a woman approaches menopause. As hormone levels change, the body gradually transitions from regular menstrual cycles toward menopause.
Therefore, this menopause test may help identify whether you are entering the menopausal transition or the perimenopause phase.
The test detects FSH levels of 25 mIU/mL or higher, which may indicate that menopause is approaching or already beginning.
Understanding Menopause and FSH
Menopause occurs as a natural stage in a woman’s life when hormone levels shift and menstrual cycles eventually stop.
Although menopause typically occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, the transition often begins earlier during perimenopause.
During this time, the ovaries gradually produce less estrogen. As a result, the body increases the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
Because these hormonal changes develop slowly, symptoms may appear gradually.
Common signs may include:
• Irregular menstrual cycles
• Hot flushes
• Night sweats
• Sleep disturbances
• Mood changes
• Fatigue
• Vaginal dryness
• Hair thinning
For this reason, monitoring FSH levels may help provide insight into hormonal changes during midlife.
Why Use a Menopause Test
The MENO-CHECK® Menopause Test measures FSH levels in urine using a simple self-testing device.
When FSH levels increase above 25 mIU/mL, it may indicate that the body is moving toward menopause.
However, hormone levels may fluctuate during the menstrual cycle. Therefore, the kit contains two tests to improve reliability.
For best results, a second test should be performed 5–7 days after the first test.
How the Menopause Test Works
Using the test is quick and simple.
First, remove the MENO-CHECK® device from the protective pouch.
Next, remove the cap and expose the absorbent tip.
Then hold the absorbent tip directly in the urine stream for 5–10 seconds, or dip it into a clean urine sample.
After that, replace the cap and place the device on a flat surface.
Finally, read the result after 10 minutes.
Do not interpret the result after 15 minutes.
Understanding Your Results
Positive Result
If the FSH line appears darker than the control line, the result is positive. This indicates that FSH levels are 25 mIU/mL or higher.
In this case, a second test should be performed 5–7 days later. If the result remains positive, menopause may be approaching and medical advice is recommended.
Negative Result
If the control line appears darker than the FSH line, the result is negative. This means that FSH levels are below 25 mIU/mL.
Invalid Result
If no control line appears, the test is invalid and should be repeated with a new device.
Storage and Safety
Store between 4°C and 30°C.
Do not freeze the test device.
Do not reuse the device.
Do not use urine from pregnant women or women receiving hormone treatment.
For in vitro diagnostic use only.
Keep out of reach of children.
